The issue of who is responsible for managing process safety lies at the heart of many accidents. In many organisations process safety is seen as being simply the responsibility of the process safety department or technical safety engineers. This means that leadership and management are not engaged in managing process safety and it is this lack of leadership commitment that is the root cause of many process safety accidents. This video produced by Vimeo, an Australian company, was launched at the APPEA 2014 Health and Safety Conference held in Perth. Watch the video and then answer the questions:
- Who is responsible for managing process safety in your organisation?
- What is your role in managing process safety?
- Are you providing necessary and sufficient process safety leadership?
